Surgical Extractions
Sometimes, teeth become so damaged that we have no choice but to remove them. We reserve surgical extractions for the most desperate cases, only doing so when keeping the tooth would cause more problems than removing it. We have our patients’ best interests at heart and will always do everything to ensure your oral health and teeth remain in optimal condition.
SURGICAL Faqs
A surgical extraction involves removing a tooth that cannot be taken out using standard methods. It often requires a small incision in the gum or sectioning the tooth for safe, controlled removal.
Reasons include impacted wisdom teeth, broken teeth below the gum line, curved or stubborn roots, severe decay, or teeth that haven’t fully erupted.
No. The area is fully numbed with local anaesthetic, so you’ll feel pressure but not pain. Mild soreness afterwards is normal and usually settles within a few days.
Most patients recover within 3–7 days. Following the aftercare instructions — such as avoiding smoking, alcohol, and strenuous activity — helps reduce swelling and speed up healing.
